The game features symmetric and asymmetric factions, multi-use cards and over 200 pieces of world-class art. Its three main phases cover the Mist Phase, Preparation Phase and War Phase, giving exploration, card play and combat distinct roles during each game.

Choose your faction and lead your forces through Avalon. During the Mist Phase, the land shifts and Artifacts and Mythical Beasts become hidden. During the Preparation Phase, choose cards, explore the mists, deploy your forces, build settlements, pursue your faction objective and seek the Lady's favour. When factions meet, the War Phase brings battles into the revealed regions of Avalon.
