Description

Italeri - 1/72 Short Stirling Mk1 (Aust Decals)

Short Stirling was the first British heavy bomber to enter service during World War II. The Stirling project was characterized by the high wing, the four engines and the raised cabin compared to the fuselage. The structure of the aircraft was entirely metallic. Another feature of the Stirling was the large landing gear. The first Stirling Mk I went to equip the RAF Bomber Command departments from the end of 1940. The first operational mission, against industrial installations in Rotterdam, was carried out in 1941. The Stirling had the possibility to carry a significant offensive load of over 6,000 kg of bombs and was armed with 8,7 mm machine guns for defense.
