Postage Stamp 1/350 Goodyear Blimp
Postage Stamp - 1/350 Goodyear Blimp
When the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company was founded in 1898, America was feeling the full effects of the Industrial Revolution. Capitalizing on that momentum and looking for unique ways to expand beyond tires, Goodyear entered into the business of lighter-than-air balloons and aircraft. This eventually led to the creation of one of America's most enduring corporate icons, the Goodyear Blimp. The blimp was used mainly for advertising and capturing aerial views of live sporting events on Eaglevision. This allows the aircraft to display bright, multi-colored, animated words and images. While Goodyear was in the airship business before the Pilgrim was built in 1925, it is considered the first public relations blimp for the Company. 2015 marked the 90th year of continuous operation of the Goodyear airship program, which is the longest in history and certainly the most successful. This Die-cast metal airplane model comes in 1:350 scale with plastic stand and is approximately 5 1/2 inches long and 1 1/2 inch wide.
