Gemini Jets 1/200 PAN AM B747100
Gemini Jets - 1/200 PAN AM B747-100
1/200 scale airliners are a relatively new scale on the collector airliner market. InFlight Models and Herpa Wings were the first to make models in this scale starting in the early mid 1990s. The big difference back then was the InFlight was making solid die-cast metal airliner models and Herpa Wings were solid plastic. Not surprisingly InFlight's die cast metal models were more popular then the solid plastic models, especially since the pricing was similar. In the late 2000s other manufacturers saw the increasing populating of InFlight models and jumped into the 1:200 scale diecast airliner model market. The introduction the Geminijets 200 line and also has meant a greatly increase selection for this scale. Other die-cast metal airliners have also come to market from these other great collectible lines: AeroClassics, ALB Models, Aviation 200, Blue Box, Dragon Wings, Hobby Master, J Fox Models, JC Wings, Jet X, NG Models, Phoenix Models, Retro Models, Seattle Models, and Western Models. Herpa has gradually been shifting there new models to diecast metal instead of plastic, but three great lines of 1:200 scale plastic snap together models have filled in the space of the larger models but at a lower price point. The solid plastic models from Hogan Wings, Skymarks, and Flight Miniatures are great models at great prices. And now there are even some manufacturers filling in the 1:200 scale models with military aircraft which can round out an airport diorama with both commercial and military aircraft. 1/200 military aircraft models are available from Air Force 1 models, Amercom Aircraft, Atlas Editions, Gulliver Models, Model Power and TSM Wings.
