In March 1973, Chrysler released the VJ Charger which was essentially a mild facelift of the popular VH Charger. The Charger R/T race programmed had finished, so to counter the deletion of the R/T, Chrysler advised potential customers, they could 'build an R/T' by using the E48 Six Pack Hemi 265 engine option and the A54 sports package.
