Postage Stamp 1163 B24J Million Dollar Baby
Postage Stamp - 1/163 B-24J Liberator "Million Dollar Baby"
Due to its great success during World War II, the Consolidated B-24 Liberator became the most produced US military aircraft in history. Compared to the other great US bomber, the B-17 Flying Fortress, the B-24 had a higher top speed, a longer range, and was capable of delivering a heavier payload. The B-24 was often used for anti-submarine patrols. This model represents a B-24J assigned to the 403rd Bomber Squadron operating in the Pacific theatre. The nickname “Million Dollar Baby” refers to the US government paying that amount for their bombers.
