Postage Stamp 1/160 F14 Tomcat VF103 Jolly Rogers
Postage Stamp - 1/160 F-14B Tomcat VF-103 “Jolly Rogers”
The F-14 Tomcat is a supersonic, long-range, interceptor fighter aircraft operated by the US Navy. Its primary functions are to maintain air superiority and defend carrier battle groups against anti-ship missiles. The F-14 has movable wings that swing forward or back automatically according to speed requirements.
US Navy Strike Fighter Squadron 103 (VFA-103) drew its nickname from the piratical skull-and-crossbones emblems painted on the tails of their F-14s. These planes flew missions in former Yugoslavia and Afghanistan, and their final deployment was in the Persian Gulf in 2004, after which VFA-103 transitioned to the F/A-18F Super Hornet.
This diecast metal model comes in 1/160 scale with plastic stand and is approximately 4 3/4 inches (12cm) long with 2 7/8 inch (7.3cm) wingspan. The wings are stationary.
