Postage Stamp 1/155 F4 Phantom II Sundowners
Postage Stamp - 1/155 F-4 Phantom II VF-111 "Sundowners"
From its first flight in 1958, the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II would prove to be one of the most successful fighter aircraft ever – a true all-rounder that simultaneously served the US Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps, as well as eleven other countries. This twinjet all-weather interceptor would set a total of sixteen speed, altitude, and climb records, with top speeds in excess of Mach 2.
Fighter Squadron 111 (VF-111), also known as the “Sundowners”, is perhaps the most famous US Pacific fleet squadron, flying over 12,500 combat missions during the Vietnam War. From 1971, VF-11 would use the F-4 Phantom II.
This diecast metal airplane model comes in 1:155 scale with plastic stand and is approximately 4 7/8 inches (12.4cm) long with a 3 3/16 inch (8.6cm) wingspan.
