Postage Stamp - 1/150 PBY-5A Catalina US Navy Bureau Number 48294
The PBY Catalina was a flying boat produced in the 1930s and 40s, and was designed to be a long-range patrol bomber for deployment against enemy transports at sea. The amphibious PBY-5A was the most produced variant, and was extensively used in World War II for reconnaissance, anti-submarine warfare, convoy escort, and air-sea rescue. This model is a replica of a PBY-5A built in 1943 and deployed in Atlantic missions during World War II, and with the US Coast Guard after the war. It was restored in 2001 and is currently on display at the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia, USA.
