Designed to supersede the F-4 Phantom, the F-15A is a US twin-engine all-weather tactical fighter, entering service in 1976. With its superior maneuverability, speed, range, weapons, and avionics, the F-15A is among the most successful modern fighters, with over 100 victories and no losses in aerial combat. The 318th Fighter Squadron “Green Dragons” were active from 1942 to 1989, and established themselves as one of the US Air Force’s top units, winning the coveted Hughes Achievement Trophy in 1984.
