Postage Stamp 1/100 P51 Mustang (Tuskeegee)
Postage Stamp - 1/100 P-51 Mustang (Tuskegee)
The P-51D Mustang was designed as a long-range fighter and bomber. In its heyday, during the later phase of World War II, no other combat aircraft could fly as high, as fast, or as far, and it was recognized as the best of its kind. Over 15,000 P-51s were produced for the US armed forces.
The Tuskegee Airmen is the popular name for the first African-American combat aviators to serve the US in World War II, who were educated at Tuskegee University in Alabama. When their 332nd Fighter Group was equipped with P-51s from July 1944, the Tuskegee Airmen had their planes painted with distinctive red markings, earning them the nickname “Red Tails”.
This diecast metal airplane model comes in 1:100 scale with plastic stand and is approximately 4 inches long (10cm) with a 4 1/2 inch (11.4cm) wingspan.
